Columbia, SC (WLTX)- It's almost the time for the first school bell and for parents the daunting task of getting the kids back on a sleep schedule can be overwhelming.
News 19's Roshanda Pratt gets some lessons from Carolina Sleep Consulting's Ashley Neal on what parents can do now.
First, gradually move bedtime earlier. For example, move bedtime in 15 minute increments to desired bedtime.
Secondly, reduce the use of electronics 60 minutes prior to bedtime and eliminate electronics from the bedroom.
Also, create a bedtime routine. Implement an age appropriate bedtime routine that the family can be consistent with.
Finally, keep the sleep environment cool and dark.
