Clowns Say Recent Reports are Hurting Business

A local clown says these reports in the Upstate and in NC are giving his profession a bad name.

Gaston, SC (WLTX) - The reports of clowns going into neighborhoods and trying to lure children is making it harder for professional entertainers to make a living.

“My business is legitimate, and I feel I would never hurt a child. Children are our future," the entertainer explained. "I feel that my rights as a clown and a business owner is being jeopardized by the fools out here doing this and I hope they come to justice by the law getting them.”

Billy Bob the Clown of Gaston says recent reports of clowns trying to lure children isn't funny. He says the sightings have not hurt his business yet but it could.

“I hope not because I would they would see the two differences, what I am and what they are,” the clown said.

Billy Bob who underneath it all is really William Caulder says he hopes the bozos stop goofing
around, because all he wants to do is be a positive role model and make children laugh.

“You go up there and give them balloons and paint their faces and make them laugh anyway you can make them laugh, you're doing the right thing,” Caulder said.

Lexington Police are looking into reports of a clown trying to talk with children earlier this week at the Park North Apartments on Brookhill West.
