13-Year-Old Student Threatened to Shoot Students on Bus, Police Say

The Richland County Sheriff's Office arrested a 13-year-old suspect after receiving a call about a student with a gun on a school bus Thursday.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The Richland County Sheriff's Office arrested a 13-year-old suspect after receiving a call about a student with a gun on a school bus Thursday.

Deputies say the male student threatened to shoot some students after showing a BB gun and presenting it as real. No injuries were reported.

A Richland County school resource officer responded to Longleaf Middle School just before 4 p.m. 

The suspect is charged with possession of a weapon on school property.

He was reportedly arrested at his residence, and released to his parents' custody pending a family court hearing.
