$237K in Fake Goods Seized at Flea Market

West Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The South Carolina Secretary of State's office says a sting led to the seizure of $237,000 in fake goods at the Metro Flea Market on Highway 1 in West Columbia.

The office teamed up with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department and the Department of Homeland Security to conduct the sting Wednesday.

According to investigators, they arrested six people who were selling the bogus goods. Law enforcement and the secretary of state's office had gotten complaints from vendors and customers complaining about inferior products being sold by the group.

Among the items seized were fake Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Coach, Nike, and Beats by Dr. Dre products. Officers also found counterfeit DVDs.

The items will be put in storage until law enforcement gets a court order to destroy them.
