Amber Alert Canceled, Missing NC Infant Found Safe

Police believe the pair are possibly traveling to Ocala, Florida or Valdosta, Georgia in a blue 2001 Ford Mustang or a Gray 1999 GMC Suburban.

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. -  An Amber Alert that had been issued for a missing 3-month-old in North Carolina has been cancelled after the child was recovered safe.

Officers announced just before 7 p.m. Wednesday that 3-month-old Cali Marie Cochran had been found.

Her non-custodial parents, Rex Douglas Cochran Jr. and Heather Marie Cochran, were taken into custody around  5:25 PM at 445 Coffee Lane in Fletcher, North Carolina.

Officers from the Fletcher Police Department and deputies from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office made entry and located them in the basement of a home there.

The child is safe and is being evaluated by medical personnel at this time, which is standard procedure when a child is involved.

Heather and Rex Cochran are wanted in North Dakota on felony child abuse charges. Police say they left Haywood County after an emergency custody order was issued.

The investigation is ongoing and officials with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office will release further later on this evening.
