Bar Owner Charged in Fatal Shooting

Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) - Orangeburg County deputies arrested the owner of a local bar who they say shot and killed a customer at his business.

James Williams, 69, who runs the Corner Pocket Night Club on Goff Avenue, is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Last Saturday, deputies say the victim, 26-year-old Phillip Brunson, was kicked out of the Corner Pocket after a fight. Investigators say Williams followed Brunson outside, and at some point, pulled out a gun and shot Brunson in the abdomen.

Brunson died from his injuries.

Williams is set to make his first court appearance Saturday morning.
