Body Found on I-77 Had Been Struck by Car

The family of a man whos body was found on the side of I-77 this week are looking for answers Craig Anderson, 40, was found Wednesday morning

COLUMBIA, SC (WLTX) - Columbia, SC (WLTX)- Authorities have identified the man found in a ditch in northeast Richland County on Wednesday.

Craig Antoine Anderson, 40, of Columbia is believed to have been struck by a vehicle sometime between  July 6 and 7, according to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts. Watts said the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Anderson's body was discovered around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 77 North near mile marker 19, the Farrow Road exit. Anderson had been reported missing by his family, according to Watts, and his vehicle was discovered nearby. Watts says Anderson's body couldn't be seen from the road. 

The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
