Cayce Woman Shot to Death, Suspect in Custody

Police say a man is in custody in connection to an overnight shooting that left a Cayce woman dead.

CAYCE, SC (WLTX) - A Columbia man is in custody following a brief manhunt in connection with an overnight shooting that left a Cayce woman dead and another person injured, according to authorities.

Derrick Davon Sligh, 28, is being held on a murder charge in connection to a Sunday morning shooting in Cayce, which left one dead and another injured, according to the Cayce Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Marquita Latasha Mobley, 33, of Cayce has been identified as one of the victims by Lexington County coroner Margaret Fisher.

Authorities say the shooting occurred just before 1 a.m. Sunday morning in the 1700 block of Stahl Street in Cayce, where Mobley was pronounced dead at the scene of apparent gunshot wounds.

Cayce DPS issued a Be On The Lookout (BOLO) alert for Sligh shortly thereafter, indicating he should be considered armed and dangerous and the vehicle he may have been driving had been found on Walcott Drive in Richland County.

Around 3:55 a.m., Cayce DPS posted on its Facebook page that Sligh had been captured in Richland County.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Mobley on November 20, 2017, according to Fisher.

The Cayce Department of Public Safety says it continues to investigate.
