Police: Person Shot in the Vista, Several Suspects Charged

Five Charged for Involvement in Vista Shooting

COLUMBIA, SC - (WLTX) -- One person is recovering from a gunshot wound after an early Friday morning shooting in the Vista, according to officials from the Columbia Police Department. 

Officers say the shooting happened at the 700 block of Gervais Street at approximately 2 a.m. After receiving a call about the incident, officers en route to the scene saw a red truck at the intersection of Assembly and Gervais Street that matched description of the vehicle at the shooting.

After initiating a traffic stop, officers found the suspects and recovered two handguns. The following people are charged: 

Gerando Ramierz, 24

  • Driving Under Suspension, first degree

Eric Grant, 25

  • Bench Warrant
  • False Information to the Police
  • Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol

Telvin Mitchell, 25

  • Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol

Garnell McDaniel, 24

  • 3 Bench Warrants
  • Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol

Demetrius Moore, 24

  • Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol

We are told one victim was taken to a local hospital and has undergone surgery after being shot in the leg. Investigators are interviewing the individuals and have collected evidence from the scene. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
