Sheriff: Heroin Found in Suspect's Pants

Kershaw county, SC (WLTX) - Kershaw County deputies have arrested a man they say was trafficking heroin in the county.

Officers took Caleb Parson, 34, into custody.

Sheriff Jim Matthews says his officers had been investigating a heroin ring operating in Cassatt for some time. On June 20th, they pulled over a vehicle that they had been on the lookout for as part of their investigation.

Matthews said the car's driver told them he'd just picked up Parson and his girlfriend at the bus station. According to officers, the driver said the pair had just arrived from Philadelphia.

Because they believed Parson was involved in the drug operation, officers took him out of the vehicle and patted him down. Matthews said they found a plastic bag with what appeared to be heroin in the waist band of his pants.

Parson was immediately taken into custody. The driver and the other woman were not charged.
