Deputies: Ex-Boyfriend Breaks Into Home, Fires Gun

Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - Kershaw County deputies arrested a man who they say broke into his former girlfriend's home and fired shots inside the place.

Harley Joe Moore, 33, is charged with burglary, discharging a firearm into a dwelling, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

Back on July 14, Sheriff Jim Matthews said deputies got a call from the victim that Moore was trying to break into her home. According to officers, Moore fired a .357 magnum handgun into a doorknob and at a glass door.

At the time of the incident, the woman's son was in the home. The victim reportedly told her child to hide in a closet while she armed herself and also tried to hide.

Officers say Moore went inside the home but couldn't find the victim, and decided to leave.

Deputies say they found Moore about a quarter mile away from the home with empty shell casings in his pocket and the gun.

The day before this incident, deputies say Moore threatened the same victim and fired a gunshot into the ceiling of his own home.
