Deputies Look for Chapin Shooting Suspects

Chapin, SC (WLTX) - Lexington and Newberry County deputies are searching for two suspects wanted in a shooting Tuesday.

Lexington County deputies say the shooting stemmed from a dispute between the victim and two suspects at a home on Bayfield Lane near Chapin around 5:30 p.m. During the fight, the victim was shot in the upper body, and the two suspects escaped.

The victim was taken to Palmetto Health Richland for treatment.

Investigators say they have identified the two men they're looking for, and add that while they're armed, the men don't pose an immediate threat to the public.

For hours after the shooting, Lexington and Newberry deputies had an active search for the suspects on Nursery Road, which is off Highway 76 between Chapin and Little Mountain. Officers used bloodhounds and helicopters to look for the men, but did not find signs of them.
