Deputies Seize Two Pounds of Marijuana During Traffic Stop

Orangeburg deputies find two pounds of marijuana during traffic stop

SANTEE, SC - (WLTX) A Holly Hill man is facing charges after officers say they found drugs inside of a vehicle Thursday night.

Deputies say 37-year-old Daniel Devine is charged with possession with intent to distribute after being stopped by officers on just after 9:00 p.m.

Deputies say Devine was traveling on Highway 6 in a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe when he made a right turn without signaling. After pulling the vehicle over, deputies say a strong marijuana smell was present as they approached. Devine had a passenger in the car. Additional units were called due to the number and occupants and the smell of drugs.

Officers say Devine did not have his driver's license or registration with him. The passenger showed his driver's license to officers.

Deputies later found a discount store bag containing two bags of marijuana after searching the vehicle. A third small bag was found also containing the drug.

The passenger was released after being questioned.

This case remains under investigation by the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office.
