Deputies: Suspect Rams Patrol Car After Chase

Kershaw County deputies have released a video which shows an early morning chase and crash.

Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - Kershaw County deputies have arrested a suspect who they say led them on a chase, then rammed one of their patrol cars.

Justin Matthew Littlejohn, 26, is charged with assaulting a police officer while resisting arrest, failure to stop for a blue light (2nd offense), and receiving stolen goods.

Sheriff Jim Matthews says at 2:31 a.m. Friday, a deputy went to Vistaview Lane in Elgin after they got a call that a vehicle hit something that knocked a headlight out. The deputy spotted a Jeep Cherokee driven by Littlejohn that was missing a headlight, and began pursuing the vehicle.

Matthews says the suspect sped up, and was driving on the wrong side of the road several times during the pursuit. At one point, the Jeep pulled not a driveway. When the deputy turned in as well, officers say Littlejohn rammed his vehicle with the Jeep, then kept driving.

Littlejohn's car went off the road a short time later. At that point, officers were able to take him into custody. (A dash cam video captured the incident, and is attached to this article. Warning: It does contain profanity)

Matthews says the Jeep had a stolen license plate on it, but it's not clear if the vehicle itself was also stolen. He says the South Carolina Highway Patrol intends to charge Littlejohn with driving under the influence.

Littlejohn was on probation for failure to stop for a blue light, according to deputies.
