Former Assistant Irmo Fire Chief Charged with Assaulting Wife

Deputies have arrested a former Irmo assistant fire chief on domestic violence charges. Clyde Thomas, 35 was arrested at his home in Columbia

Lexington, SC (WLTX) - Lexington County deputies have arrested the former assistant Irmo Fire Chief after they say he assaulted his wife.

Clyde Thomas, 35, is charged with third-degree domestic violence. 

He was arrested at a home on Berl Mar Road in the Columbia area of Lexington County.  Deputies say they determined he was the primary aggressor in a physical confrontation with his wife. 

Thomas resigned his position with the Irmo Fire District Tuesday night. He's been released from jail on a personal recognizance bond.
