Friends Hope for Swift Justice in Murder of Elgin Teen

Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office has identified the young woman whose body was found in Elgin on Wednesday as 18-year-old Briana Rabon, and friends are now coming out to make sure people remember Rabon for living life to the fullest, not her tragic end.

"She could walk into a room and light up everybody's faces with anything," said Rabon's close friend, Carol Anderson. "She was clumsy, you could catch her attention with her falling down, cracking a joke, her being loud."

Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews released a Facebook statement on Thursday saying his office has some very strong leads and although you can never say with absolute certainty that a case will be solved quickly, he's confident they're moving in the right direction.

Anderson and other friends say they agree that answers aren't far off because Rabon was always on her guard, constantly surrounding herself with people.

"Briana never went anywhere by herself, she was a really social person, so I'm sure whoever she went with she trusted them," said Anderson. "She wasn't the type of person to go anywhere with someone that she didn't know."

Shortly after a group of seniors at Lugoff-Elgin High, the school Rabon had graduated from in 2013, found her, officers located her car at the Waffle House on U.S. 601. Friends say they believe this indicates she went willingly.

These facts are what friends say could cause a swift showing of justice, but they add only time will tell.

If you have any information on the case, you're asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
