Lexington County Women Plead Guilty in Food Stamp Fraud

State prosecutors say Janet Bunch Oatman and Stacey Jean Gladden received thousand of dollars in SNAP benefits.

Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - A sentence hearing on Monday marked the end of a food stamp fraud conspiracy between two Lexington County women.

State prosecutors say Janet Bunch Oatman and Stacey Jean Gladden received thousand of dollars in SNAP benefits after reportedly presenting false income information on individual SNAP benefit applications and recertification documents.

Oatman pleaded guilty and received two sentences of five years’ probation to run consecutively and more than $20,000 in restitution in Orangeburg and Lexington County. Gladden entered an Alford plea and was sentenced to five years’ probation and $5,000 in restitution in Lexington County.
 
Assistant Attorney General Sam Jones prosecuted the case after investigation by the Department of Social Services.
