Man Accused of Beating Son Faces New Charge

Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - A Kershaw County man accused of beating his son with a flashlight is now facing a new charge.

Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews announced Monday that Antonio Green, 48, was arrested Friday on a charge of possessing a stolen firearm.

On July 28th, deputies say Green hit his 12-year-old son with his fists and the flashlight. After his arrest, he was released on $20,000 bond. Previous Coverage: Man Charged with Assaulting Son

But officers say on August 1st, a deputy stopped a vehicle driven by 46-year-old Kenneth Qualls where Green was a passenger. During a search of the vehicle, the deputy reported finding a 9 mm handgun by the seat which officers believe the men bought.

Detectives determined the weapon had been stolen in Columbia.

Qualls and Green were both booked on the stolen weapons charge and have since been released on $5,000 bond.
