Man Charged with Killing Ex-Wife Returns to Sumter

James Lee Ginther, 26, arrived with investigators at Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Sumter, SC (WLTX) - The Sumter man charged with the kidnap and murder of his ex-wife has been transported back to South Carolina.

James Lee Ginther, 26,  arrived with investigators at Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

He was arrested on November 20 in Louisville, Kentucky, in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Suzette Ginther, whose body was found in a shallow grave in the Manchester Forest in Sumter County.

Investigator say she'd been shot in the head. Sumter County Sheriff has called the killing a "crime of passion."

Deputies apprehended Ginther after running his information for a minor traffic accident. A weapon of the same caliber as the one involved with the shooting was reportedly found in his vehicle. Authorities haven't definitely matched it to the crime.

The suspect is set to appear in a family court hearing Wednesday morning.
