Meth, Explosive Powder Found in Vehicle on I-95

Sumter, SC (WLTX) - Sumter County deputies say they pulled over a vehicle with drugs and an explosive powder on Interstate 95.

The stop was made early Wednesday afternoon near the Highway 378 exit.

Sumter Sheriff Anthony Dennis said his officers found an ounce of meth and a type of power that could be used to make explosives. Officers also recovered $10,000 in cash.

Officers arrested two people inside the vehicle: 52-year-old Dean V. Smoronk and 45-year-old Christina M. Cuozzo. They are both charged with trafficking methamphetamine and posession of bomb making material.

The State Law Enforcement Division is assisting in the investigation.
