Motorcycle Chase Ends on Clemson Campus

Clemson, SC (WLTX) - The Oconee County Sheriff's department arrested a man they say led them on a high-speed pursuit Friday that ended on Clemson University's campus.

Officers booked 21-year-old Eric Joseph Fontaine of Fletcher, North Carolina into the Oconee County Jail on charges of reckless driving, failure to stop, and simple possession of marijuana.

Around 3:45 a.m., deputies say one of their officers saw Fontaine speeding on a motorcycle on a bypass toward Clemson. The deputy turned on his blue light and began pursuing the vehicle.

The chase went from Oconee County into Pickens County, and ended when Fontaine lost control of his bike on Cherry Road, which runs through the school's campus.

The deputy says Fontaine tried to pick up his bike and keep going, but the motorcycle stalled out.

When police searched the motorcycle, they found what appeared to be marijuana in a backpack.
