Puppy Set on Fire in Church Parking Lot Dies

The animal set on fire in the parking lot of a Harbison Boulevard church.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies are trying to find a man who they say killed a puppy by setting it on fire at a church parking lot Saturday night.

A witness called officers around 7 p.m. to say the animal--an 8 to 10 week old female pitbull--was injured in the parking lot of Grace United Methodist Church on Harbison Boulevard.  Officers haven't said yet what they believed led up to man hurting the animal, or why he may have done it.

The puppy was taken to the South Carolina Animal Hospital where she later died.

Anyone who may know anything in this case should call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
