Suspects Arrested in Shooting that Led to Manhunt

Chapin, SC (WLTX) - Lexington County deputies have arrested the two suspects in a shooting that led to a manhunt Tuesday night near Chapin.

Officers say 22-year-old Jeffery Lewis Hentz and 20-year-old Demichael Edward Mayers turned themselves in Wednesday.

Deputies say Hentz Mayers got into an argument with a victim at a home on Bayfield Lane in Chapin. During the fight, investigators say one of the men shot the victim in the upper body. Previous Coverage: Deputies Look for Chapin Shooting Suspects

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators say all three men knew each other, and the shooting does not appear to be random.

As deputies tried to find Hentz and Mayers, they searched an area off Highway 76 between Chapin and Little Mountain for several hours, using a helicopter and bloodhounds to assist in the hunt. Roads in the area were briefly blocked.
