Police: Attempted Murder Suspect Shot Victim in Groin

West Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Police have arrested a 19-year-old West Columbia man after they say he opened fire on a young man walking down 9th Street.

According to officers with the West Columbia Police Department, at about 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jalon Taylor of Minolta Drive in West Columbia shot the victim in the groin.

Investigators say the victim, who is a minor, and a friend were walking through the 300 block of 9th Street, when a vehicle driven by Taylor pulled up to them. 

After the victim and Taylor spoke briefly, police say Taylor pointed a handgun out of the vehicle, and fired once at the victim. The man was taken to Lexington Medical Center where he was treated and released.
