Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - Kershaw County deputies have arrested a suspect they say had counterfeit money.
40-year-old Ryan Scott Jordan, 40, faces forgery charges, and will likely have federal charges from the U.S. Secret Service.
Deputies say they were called to the McDonald's restaurant in Lugoff Sunday. When they arrived, they found that Jordan was being held by a firefighter and two other people.
When officers began sorting through the commotion, they were told one of the men accused Jordan of passing counterfeit bills. Investigators also say Jordan used a counterfeit bill at the McDonalds to buy a Happy Meal.
Jordan was arrested at the scene for public disorderly conduct and for providing false information to law enforcement. Investigators questioned Jordan and placed a hold on him for forgery.
Officers say they contacted the Secret Service, and a search was conducted at Jordan's home in Camden. Inside, officers claim they found $4,930 in counterfeit money and equipment that was used to make phony $100, $20, $10, and $5 bills.
Jordan was interviewed by a KCSO investigator and the Secret Service agent, and Sheriff Jim Matthews says he confessed to passing counterfeit bills in North Carolina, Georgia and in Kershaw County, Richland County, Aiken County, Lexington and Florence counties.
