Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) - Orangeburg Public Safety officers say nine suspects were arrested in a recent prostitution sting.
The effort took place on February 17 near the corner of John C. Calhoun Drive and Bleakley Street.
Investigators say undercover female officers stood at the corner of the road dressed up to pretend they were prostitutes. In a little under an hour, police say the suspects--eight men and one juvenile--came to her offering money in exchange for sex acts.
Officers say they conducted the sting because they've seen a rise in prostitution in that area. Orangeburg Public Safety Captain Mike Adams adds that more stings will be conducted as necessary.
