Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Lexington County Sheriff's Deputies are looking for a man who stole credit card information from a Hampton Inn on 1094 Chris Drive in West Columbia.
According to the incident report, on May 23rd a man entered the hotel around 10pm and asked the front desk clerk about a reservation that was made on-line by his uncle on May 22nd.
The hotel clerk said she found a reservation that was made on May 23rd about an hour and a half before the suspect came in, not the previous day.
The report indicates that the clerk told the suspect she needed a credit card in order to complete the transaction. When the suspect said he did not have a credit card, the clerk got a folder from a back room that contained "Customer Credit Card Authorizations" to see if there was already a card on file.
The clerk told officials that when she came back with the folder the suspect was very nervous and jittery. She then set the folder on the desk next to the computer and says that is when the suspect jumped toward her and grabbed the file folder and fled on foot.
The clerk said the file folder contains hundreds of customer's personal and credit card information.
No arrests have been made.
Lexington County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate this incident.
