Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) - Orangeburg County deputies say a woman was shot five times during a domestic dispute over the weekend.

Officers say 38-year old Jeffrey Niko Grimes is charged with attempted murder.

According to investigators, Grimes shot his girlfriend around 7 a.m. Saturday morning at a home on Alexis Road.

Deputies say the problems actually began the day before, when the Grimes and the victim got into an argument. Investigators say the confrontation was over Grimes's support for the household.

The victim then left the home and spent the night with a relative. She came back the next to take a shower. As she was drying off, deputies say Grimes shot six bullets, with five of them hitting her and one hitting a mirror.

Investigators claim during the shooting, Grimes said, "I promise you, you won't walk out of here alive today."

The victim is in the hospital, where her injuries are said to be non life-threatening.

A judge has denied bond for Grimes.
