Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Department of Juvenile Justice officials say one suspect accused of escaping from custody Monday morning has been captured.
DJJ officials says Ja-Quan Brewton, 18, was found at the Hot Spot gas station on Farrow Road in Richland County shortly after 9 p.m.
Police say Brewton and 17-year-old Ritchie Rashawri Hicks and 18-year-old Daetron Diontrae Grant escaped as they were being taken to a medical appointment on Taylor Street in Columbia around 9:30 a.m.
DJJ officials say the trio were in handcuffs and shackles in the van. As they were being taken out of the van, however, they were out of handcuffs and shackles, and ran from the area toward Oak Street.
