Kershaw, SC (WLTX) -- The Kershaw County Sheriff's Department reports the arrest of two men in connection with a number of home break-ins in the area.

David Patrick Schweikert Jr. and Jeffery Joseph Gray, both of Kershaw, were arrested Sunday following questioning by investigators.

Deputies say Schweikert admitted to breaking into area homes and outbuildings with Gray, stealing numerous power and hand tools, and afterwards led investigators to the location where they had stored the stolen property.

According to officers, Schweikert and Gray admitted they had planned to bind and rob an elderly handicapped woman who lived in the area. They also admitted to planning another robbery - but that homeowner actually became suspicious of their activities and moved towards his gun cabinet, which deterred the suspects.

Both men are being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
