Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - Kershaw County deputies have arrested a man they say sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl.

Brian Robert Sharpe, 25, is charged with criminal sexual conduct toward a minor under 11.

Sheriff Jim Matthews said that in early June, family members of the victim contacted deputies, claiming that the girl had been assaulted by Sharpe on June 1. Officers then interviewed the girl to get her account.
 
Officers say during their investigation, Sharpe harassed the victim's mother.
 
He turned himself over to deputies on July 19.
