Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - Kershaw County deputies say a man already charged in a child sexual assault case is accused of plotting to kill the victim and her mother.

Brian Robert Sharpe, 25, now is facing two counts of solicitation to commit murder.

Back on July 19, deputies arrested Sharpe and charged him with criminal sexual conduct of a minor. According to Sheriff Jim Matthews, Sharpe sexually assaulted a young girl back in early June.

Deputies, however, say while he was in jail, he began talking to another inmate. According to deputies, he asked the inmate "to make sure the child and her mother didn't testify against him." Matthews says Sharpe asked the inmate to either do this himself when he got out of jail, or find someone else who could.

The inmate told jail staff about the conversation, and the sheriff met with the solicitor's office and decided to bring the new charge against Sharpe.

Bond has been set at $200,000 dollars for the criminal sexual conduct charge, and a hearing will be held late this week on the solicitation charges.
