Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - Lexington County deputies have arrested a woman they illegally cashed in more than $2,000 in lottery tickets from the store where she worked.
Jessica Leigh Shealy Peralta, 25, is charged with eight counts of defrauding the South Carolina Education Lottery.
Peralta was an employee of the C-Mart convenience store at 658 Two Notch Road. While working there, investigators say she cashed in 226 lottery tickets herself that were worth $2,260.
The owner of the convenience store reported the incident to the sheriff's department and the South Carolina Education Lottery.
Defrauding the South Carolina Education Lottery is a felony that carries a maximum punishment of five years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
