Lexington County, S.C. (WLTX)-- A 22-year-old Surfside Beach man is being held on $25,000 bond, after authorities say he met a Gilbert teen in an internet chat room, and met up with her for sex.
Derrick Bryant Amann was arrested Tuesday, and is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center. He is charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child who is between the ages of 11 and 14.
Investigators say Amann met a 14-year-old Gilbert girl in an internet chat room. He's accused of driving from Surfside Beach to Gilbert or the purpose of engaging in a sexual encounter with the girl.
The girl's father called authorities after he noticed his daughter was missing from their home. He made contact with her, and authorities say she told him where he could find her. The man then drove the location, off of Neely Wingard Road in Gilbert, and noticed a car parked in the woods. He parked behind the vehicle, and several minutes later his daughter got out of the passenger side door. The man says he walked up to the car and found Amann shirtless, with his shorts around his ankles.
Deputies say the girl performed a sexual act on Amann, who could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
