Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - Lexington County deputies say a Virginia man is responsible for making a bomb threat at White Knoll High School this week.
Officers in Prince William County, Virginia arrested 20-year-old Tyler Hering Tuesday night.
Earlier Tuesday, officers believe he communicated a threat to White Knoll, causing Lexington County deputies to respond and search the school. While no threat was found, school district officials decided to dismiss class early as a precaution.
Deputies developed information that Hering might be involved, and passed that data along to investigators in Virginia, who took Hering into custody.
He's facing a felony charge in Virginia of communicating a threat to bomb a place of assembly or building. He will not be charged in South Carolina because the incident took place out of state.
At this point, officers believe he targeted White Knoll randomly, because they have found no ties between Hering and either White Knoll or Lexington County.
