Driver Who Struck F3 Runner Not at Fault, Police Say

Lexington, SC (WLTX) - Lexington police say the driver who struck and killed a runner Wednesday was not at fault in the collision.

Police released an update Thursday afternoon in the accident that killed John Flanagan of Lexington.

On Wednesday at 5:44 a.m., police responded to a collision with injuries  that occurred near the 800 block of North Lake Drive. Officers say Flanagan was taken to the hospital for treatment, and died from his injuries later.

During the course of the investigation, officers found the driver of  the vehicle was traveling eastbound on  North Lake Drive towards Sunset Boulevard with a green traffic signal light  when Flanagan ran across the road and  was struck by her vehicle while he was in the roadway.

Witnesses and video camera confirmed that the driver did not contribute to the collision, officers say.

Flanagan was a member of F3, a local group of runners. F3 stands for fitness, fellowship, and faith.
