Fire Takes Life of 12-Year-Old Pee Dee Boy

ANDREWS, S.C. (AP) - A 12-year-old South Carolina boy is dead after an early-morning fire at a mobile home in Georgetown County.

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office says the fatal blaze took just one victim at the mobile home in the town of Andrews where the boy and his family formerly lived. The coroner's office identified the boy as Dave S. Cohen.

The boy's family told deputies that they had recently moved into a new home. Cohen attended a birthday party Friday night and ignored calls from his mother. Deputies learned that the boy returned to his old home without letting his family know he was there.

Officials have not said how the fire started. Deputies are investigating the case.
