Former SCDOT Head Requests Jury Trial

Lexington, SC (WLTX) - The former head of the South Carolina Department of Transportation has asked for a jury trail in his pending DUI case.

The Lexington County magistrate's court tells News19 that a hearing was planned Tuesday for 66-year-old Robert St. Onge, but was cancelled when he requested a jury trial.

St. Onge was charged in January with DUI after he was pulled over in Lexington County on eye-20 near Bush River Road. Officers gave the 66-year-old a series of field sobriety tests that they say he failed.

He was charged for having a blood-alcohol at least twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent. He resigned from his job after the arrest.

A date for a pre-trial hearing has not been set yet.
