(CBS News) -- AARP The Magazine printed their rundown for the nation's best cities for retired folks to spend their silver years. Did any city in the Midlands make the list?

The magazine ranked the destinations by examining financial data on more than 350 cities across the country. The publication based their results, not only on property- and sales-tax rates, median housing price, and cost of living, but also the tax rate on pensions and Social Security. Recreation, climate, and arts and culture were also considered.

10th Best City for Retirement: Runner-up on AARP The Magazine's 10 Affordable Cities for Retirement list is Cheyenne, WY. The median housing price is $141,400, there's no state tax on pensions or a state tax on Social Security. Sales tax is 6 percent. 


9th Best City for Retirement: Runner-up on AARP The Magazine's 10 Affordable Cities for Retirement list is Columbus, IN. The median housing price is $124,200, but there is a state tax on pensions. There's no state tax on Social Security, and sales tax is set at 7 percent. 

8th Best City for Retirement: Runner-up on AARP The Magazine's 10 Affordable Cities for Retirement list is Midland, TX. The median housing price is $96,600. There's no state tax on pensions or Social Security. Sales tax is listed at 8.25 percent.

7th Best City for Retirement: Runner-up on AARP The Magazine's 10 Affordable Cities for Retirement list is Harrisburg, PA. The median housing price is $144,200. There are some state taxes on pensions, but no state tax on Social Security. Sales tax is 6 percent.

6th Best City for Retirement: Runner-up on AARP The Magazine's 10 Affordable Cities for Retirement list is Ithaca, NY. The median housing price is $146,100. There are some state taxes on pensions but no state taxes on Social Security. Sales tax is listed at 8 percent.

5th Best City for Retirement: Number Five on AARP The Magazine's 10 Affordable Cities for Retirement list is Wenatchee, WA. The median housing price is $192,000. There's no state tax on pensions or on Social Security. Sales tax is 8 percent and the property tax rate is 10.52 percent. 

4th Best City for Retirement: Topping out at Number Four AARP The Magazine's 10 Affordable Cities for Retirement list is Gainesville, GA. The median housing price is $141,800. There is a state tax on pensions but no state tax on Social Security. The sales tax is 7 percent and the property tax rate is 7.76 percent.

3rd Best City for Retirement: Making the Top Three in AARP The Magazine's 10 Affordable Cities for Retirement list is Tulsa, OK. Its median housing price is $125,600. There is a state tax on pensions, but no state tax on Social Security. Sales tax is 5.5 percent and the property tax rate is 8.77 percent.

2nd Best City for Retirement: The second best city on AARP The Magazine's 10 Affordable Cities for Retirement list is Portland, ME. The median housing price is $202,800. There is a state tax on pensions but no state tax on Social Security. Sales tax is listed at 5 percent, while the property tax rate is 14.35 percent.

The Best City for Retirement on AARP The Magazine's 10 Affordable Cities for Retirement list is Winchester, VA. The median housing price is $151,500.
