Cat Exposes Person to Rabies

Saluda County, SC (WLTX) - The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control says a person in Saluda County has been exposed to rabies.

The person came in contact with a cat that tested positive for the disease. The person is receiving post-exposure treatment.

DHEC says to avoid the risk or rabies, people should avoid wild animals acting tame and tame animals acting wild.

There have been 43 confirmed cases of animal rabies this year. For more information on rabies, go to DHEC's website.
