Large Bags of Tyson Chicken Nuggets Recalled

Washington, DC (WLTX) -- Certain bags of Tyson Chicken Nuggets are being recalled for small plastic pieces in the food.

Tyson Foods Inc., is recalling approximately 75,320 pounds of chicken nuggets, bagged in five pound and twenty pound packages.

The smaller, five pound bags, were shipped to a national retail warehouse chain between January 26th and February 16th of this year, and have a "Best By" date of Jan. 26th, 2015 or Feb. 16th, 2014.

The bags are: 5-lb. bags of"Tyson Fully Cooked White Meat Chicken Nuggets – 16142-928" and bears the number "P-13556"

These fully cooked chicken nuggets may be contaminated with small plastic pieces, that were found in some nuggets.

The problem was traced to one blending machine at one production facility, but with the one year long Best By date, the possibility contaminated bags of chicken nuggets are still in consumer freezers remains.

The company has received reports of minor oral injury associated with consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness from consumption of these products should contact a healthcare provider.

Consumers with questions about the recall should contact Tyson Foods Consumer Services toll free at (866) 328-3156.

The larger twenty pound packages were shipped for institutional use in Indiana and Arkansas.

The bulk packages shipped to Indiana and Arkansas bear the following information: "Spare Time Fully Cooked Nugget-Shaped Chicken Breast Pattie Fritters w/Rib Meat – 16142-861" with identifying case codes of "0264SDL0315 through 19" and "0474SDL0311 through 14." These products were produced Jan. 26 and Feb. 16, 2014 and were shipped for institutional use in Indiana and Arkansas.
