Local lawmaker wants Florida to drop daylight saving time

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- So Florida – want to get rid of Daylight Savings Time?   A local state senator does.

Republican Senators Greg Steube, who represents Sarasota and Charlotte Counties has filed a bill to exclude Florida from daylight savings time.  If it passes, Floridians would be in standard time between March and November.

The measure has been introduced several times before, and has failed.  Should it pass this year?

If it does, Steube says the law would go into effect on January 1.
