Victim Identified: 1 Person Dead After 3 Vehicle Crash in Lexington County

One person is dead following a crash on Edmund Highway.

Lexington, SC (WLTX) -- The South Carolina Highway Patrol said that one person died after a three car collision on SC 302 around 3:45 a.m. Sunday.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said that the victim is Kenneth Maxie Lucas, 47, of Pelion.  She said Lucas was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the Dodge truck he was driving. 

Troopers said that a Lucas was driving a Dodge pick-up truck traveling West on SC 302, Edmond Highway near the intersection of Pleasant View Road, when he crossed over the center line and hit a tractor trailer head on.  A third vehicle, a GMC Yukon, then hit the tractor trailer in the back. 

Investigators said Lucas died as a result multiple body trauma sustained in the crash. The road was closed for three hours to clean fuel that leaked from the tractor trailer. 

Troopers said the collision remains under investigation, but do not expect any charges to be filed.
