12-Year-Old Competes In Triathlon

Triathlons are perfect for showing off just how physically tough you really are. While many participants are in their 20s and 30s, one young competitor says age is just a number when it comes to athleticism.

"I just have fun with it, I enjoy it ," Daniel Todd said.

For some who aren't as athletic, it's hard to find the fun in consecutively swimming 500 meters, biking 10 miles and running a 5K.

But, Todd is a pretty adventurous kid.

"This is my 3rd triathlon," he said.

Daniel started doing triathlons a few years ago and for someone who's a seasoned pro, he's only 12. While the majority of competitors are twice as old and then some.

" I don't have too much pressure on me because I agree upon what everyone says, just have fun," Daniel said.

Daniel starts off at the pool and in just minutes he's already lapped a couple people ahead of him.

"I have to take it easy a lot because if I don't then all my energy goes away," he said.

After that he runs across the parking lot to grab his bike. This part is his favorite.

"The biking, I also love, because of the speed down the hills," Daniel said.

And then, when most would call it quits, he laces up his sneakers and hits the pavement -- running up the stairs and through the streets to the finish line.

Daniel said this is just the start of being an all-star triathlete.

"I just love to be challenged through all the courses that they have," he said.

Daniel came in 2nd in his age group, which consists of 10- to 15-year-olds.
