Student Threatened to 'Shoot Up' Midlands High School, Deputies Say

Dashaan Sims, 17, has been arrested for making threats on Facebook to "shoot up" Lower Richland High School, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

RICHLAND COUNTY (WLTX) - A 17-year-old Columbia student has been arrested for making threats on Facebook to "shoot up" Lower Richland High School, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

 

 

Dashaan Sims, 17, is being charged with unlawful communication and aggravated breach of trust. 

Deputies say the Sheriff's Department received numerous calls on Tuesday from parents concerned about the safety of their children at school. Investigators found several posts on Facebook from a a male student threatening to "shoot up" the school, according to deputies.

The student was arrested in the 300 block of South Beltline Boulevard, according to investigators.
