Columbia, SC (WLTX) - High pressure centered over New England will dominate the weather for much of this week. Dry air pushed into the Midlands with the departure of Hermine and conditions have been pleasant. It will be hot for Labor Day, but the air mass will be dry. Abundant sunshine will be the rule.
The heat will be building this week with temperatures in the mid 90s for the latter half of the week. The hottest day will likely be Thursday. Heat indices will be near 100° with the increase in humidities. Skies will be mostly clear to partly cloudy, but no rain is expected.
Temperatures may drop slightly by next weekend. It will be hot and humid with a slight chance of thunderstorms on Sunday. However, little rain is expected until the next week and temperatures will remain above normal.
