Columbia, SC (WLTX) Looking for something to do on the fourth? Have a bit of a taste for peaches? Then the Gilbert Peach Festival is for you.
For 56 years the town of Gilbert has celebrated the 4th and the mighty peach with a parade, car show, arts and crafts, a tractor show and more peaches than you can eat.
A parade will begin promptly at 9:30 AM and the evening will end with a firework display at 10 PM. There is no admission fee, but some places will charge a parking fee ($4). Plate lunches will be served in the park beginning around 11 AM with BBQ pork, chicken, sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers and of course, peach ice cream, peach cobbler, peach sundaes, peach slush, peach tea, peach almond delights and of course peaches.
If you are interested in the pageants they will begin at 10 AM in the Gilbert Primary school cafetorium, with the Miss Peach Pageant beginning at 7 PM.
