Air Quality Alert for Midlands due to NC Wildfires

Anyone with respiratory issues is asked to stay inside.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) Over 10,000 acres have burned from the wildfires that continue in North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.

Forecasters say winds will move wildfire smoke into the Midlands Tuesday causing problems for those with respiratory issues. 

The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued an Air Quality Alert for all counties in the Midlands. That alert is in place until Midnight 

Residents with breathing issues, especially young children and the elderly, should avoid outdoor activities and keep doors and windows closed Tuesday.
