Anti-Trump Protestors Chant, Rally at State House

Protesters at the Statehouse to protest President-Elect Trump.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A few dozen protestors took to the streets of Columbia to protest the election of Donald Trump as the next president of the United States.

The group met up around 9 p.m. Some marched a few blocks away and gathered on the front entrance along Gervais Street.

The group held signs and chanted "Love Trumps Hate" and "Not My President" over and over. There were met by a few counter-protesters.

Despite the fervor of the crowd, the protest remained peaceful. That was in contrast to some larger cities, where some protests morphed into riots, including in Portland, Oregon, where damage was reported Thursday.

Trump won South Carolina 55 to 41 percent Tuesday night over Hillary Clinton, earning the state's nine electoral votes. In real numbers, that was 1,143,611 votes for Trump and 849,469 for Clinton.
