Arrest Made in Five Points Hit and Run

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The Columbia Police Department have arrested a male suspect they believe fled after hitting a pedestrian in Five Points Friday night.

Charles Thomas Jason, 19, is charged with hit and run with personal injury.

A preliminary investigation and witness accounts indicate Jason struck a 21-year-old male with his 2007 Chevy Tahoe on the 2000 block of Greene Street shortly before 11:30 pm.

Deputies say the suspect fled to a residence on Lincoln Street following the incident.

The victim, who reportedly didn't utilize the crosswalk, is being treated for multiple lacerations at a local hospital.

Jason remains at the Richland County Detention Center.

The suspect's vehicle has been seized as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
